Choosing the Right Cement that Make all the Difference During Construction

The foundation defines the durability of any structure whether a building, bride, or roadways. The materials we choose has an impact on the outcome of the construction. Cement is one of the most important material used in construction. Construction of reservoirs, marine structures, cooling towers, railway sleepers, industrial buildings, dams, bridges, flyovers, runways, or metro line, requires different grades of cement. You can check samples before buying cement online from any website.

The major categories of cement are Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC), Portland Slag Cement (PSC). The quality of cement determines the durability and makes it weather-proof from hazardous conditions like storms, snow, rain, etc. OPC is the most widely used cement used for high-strength pre-cast concrete and plaster. It is available in OPC-43 Grade and OPC-53 Grade. OPC is ideally applied for high- rise buildings, commercial structures, roadways & runways, flyovers. PPC is cement made of gypsum and pozzolanic materials like fly ash and silica-rich earth. It is used for brick masonry, plastering, tiling & waterproofing. PPC is ideally applied for plaster & brickwork, marine work, mass concrete work, RCC work & residential construction. It is one of the largest producers of PPC cement. MP Birla is the best cement for RCC, roofs, slabs, pillars, and plastering. Some of their flagship products are MP Birla Cement Perfect, MP Birla Unique, Chetak, etc. They also manufacture premium quality white cement and slag cement.

PSC is a blended cement, comprising 90% glass with silicates and alumino-silicates of lime. It is created with a combination of 45-50% slag, 45-50 % clinker, and 3-5 % Gypsum. It is majorly used for a pre-cast concrete product, foundations and piles construction, water retaining structures and to add a superior finish. Slag cement is ideally applied for mass concrete works, dams, concrete road, flyovers and marine construction. MP Birla cement unique is one of the top-selling PSC cements with fewer cracks and gives an excellent finish to a structure. OPC cement sets faster than other brands of cement and makes the construction stronger. This type of cement provides a denser concrete paste matrix by reducing the pore size. Denser cement creates a protective shield from the air, water, harmful chemicals, and CO2. To keep the construction timelines intact, fast setting cement is advisable. Weather is a big determinant in the finishing of any construction project

Having a good understanding of cement types and other materials will help you to be more involved in the construction project.

Beautiful Iconic Bridges to Visit Across the World

Bridges are often iconic representations of any country. When you visit any country, check out the magnificent architectures of the world. The stunning architecture of bridges defines the skyline of a place. It is a must to visit iconic bridges around the world. Architects use innovative 3D modeling and virtual design to create different simulations of a bridge structure.
The construction of a bridge involves a complex undertaking of technical knowledge and architectural expertise. A bridge is often built to reduce traffic or to allow pedestrians to connect between two cities or to connect two different places. Aqueducts are the most ancient structures that served as an inspiration to modern-day bridges. They were used to transport fresh water for great distances during the medieval era. From spectacular suspension bridges to pedestrian walkways, construction of bridges is a challenging process and involves many years of endeavor.
Here is a brief view on the architecture and construction of some of the iconic bridges in the world.
The Golden Gate bridge is certainly the most spectacular bridge in California. It is one of the world’s longest too spanning 4200 feet. It is constructed with earthquake-resistant technology. This bridge has walkways, bicycling lanes, and a six-vehicle traffic lane. The best cement for rcc construction of a bridge is Grade 53 cement, due to its strength and durability.
MP Birla is one of the best cement suppliers in India. They manufacture OPC, PPC, and PSC cement.
Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy is a classic example of renaissance infrastructure.  It is a one-of-a-kind bridge spanning over the Arno river. This bridge had medieval century workshops and houses on the top of the structure. Now a major tourist destination in Florence, this bridge has a history of surviving through the World War II.
The stunning Brooklyn Bridge across the New York City Skyline spans at a length of 1596 feet over the East River. It features a great pedestrian walkway for the walkers and the cyclists above the automobile lanes. The construction of this bridge was carried on fourteen years. Akashi Kaiko is the longest suspension bridge, located in Japan. It is also the tallest bridge in the World. It connects the city of Kobe with Iwaya. It spans a length of 3911m. This bridge is made of steel.
Irrespective of the construction material of cement or steel, understanding the construction techniques of bridges gives us an insight into the most marvelous structures of the world. It helps us to appreciate the endeavor of talented architects and designers. The design of bridges can also serve as an inspiration to modern construction work.
